Forts and fortified towns

For years, forts and fortified towns had a military function, but today there is something for everyone here. Whether you are looking for the cosiness of old narrow streets full of atmosphere in a fortified town or the greenery, peace, space and inspiration of a fort, you will find it in the Dutch Water Defence Lines. On our Dutch website, you will find all the forts and fortified towns in the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
